Is there a keyboard shortcut to add another assignment to a day?

Yes, there is!

When editing the Lesson Plan for a class, if you want to add more than one assignment on a particular day, do this: After you type in the description of the first assignment, hold down the Ctrl key and press Enter*.  That will create a new row for another assignment on the same day.

* – on the Mac, the keys are labeled Control and Return.

How To: Share my Homeschool Planet Calendar with Google

Adding your Homeschool Planet calendar to Google Calendar

  1. Go to your Google calendar page.
  2. In the left column, open the menu next to the heading “Other calendars”, and choose the “Add by URL” option.

  3. Paste the address you copied from Homeschool Planet’s “Share Out” feature into the input field labeled “URL”, then click the “Add Calendar” button. (See “How To: Share my Homeschool Planet Calendar” for details on where to find this address.)

  4. Your Homeschool Planet events will now be displayed on your Google Calendar.

Note: Google controls how often it gets updates of your events from Homeschool Planet.  It appears to update only a few times a day, so there may be a delay between the time you make a change in Homeschool Planet and the time that change is reflected in Google Calendar.

How To: Share Calendars with Other Applications

Using “Share Out”

Share Out allows you to display your Homeschool Planet calendar within another calendar application (such as Google Calendar or Apple Calendar).  You can share different versions of your calendar, each containing a different selection of events from your Homeschool Planet calendar.

To display events from Homeschool Planet in another calendar application, follow these steps:

  1. Under the “Settings” menu, choose “Share”.
  2. Select the “Share Out” tab, if it is not already selected.
  3. Click on the “Share my Homeschool Planet calendar with others” link.
  4. Give this calendar a name (for your reference).
  5. Highlight the address displayed in the white box, and copy it using your browser’s “copy” function.
  6. Click “Save”.

Important: You must save before continuing to step 7, or the address will not be activated.

  7. Paste that address into the appropriate place in your other calendar application (see the Homeschool Planet help article “How To: Share my Homeschool Planet Calendar” specific to your application).

Using “Share In”

Share In allows you to display a calendar from another Internet calendar application (such as Google calendar or Apple iCloud Calendar) on your Homeschool Planet calendar.  You can add many such calendars, and for each you can choose which students will see that calendar when the student logs in.

To display events from another calendar inside Homeschool Planet, follow these steps:

  1. Under the “Settings” menu, choose “Share”.
  2. Select the “Share In” tab, if it is not already selected.
  3. Click on the “Display scheduled events from another calendar in Homeschool Planet” link.
  4. Copy the address for the iCal-formatted version of your calendar from your other calendar application (see the Homeschool Planet help article “How To: Finding the Share In Address” specific to your application):
  5. Paste the address you copied in step 4 into the “URL for this Internet calendar” field.
  6. Give the calendar a name (anything you like, for your reference only).
  7. Choose a color for this calendar.  Events from this Internet calendar will all display in your calendar in this color.
  8. Choose which students will see this calendar when they log in.
  9. Choose “Save”.
